It’s been a massive week for the arts at Ellsworth High School! From the pottery wheel to the recording studio and the marketing scene, our VPA Academy students have been busy proving that "student-led" can also mean "world-class."
We are so incredibly proud of the dedication, grit, and pure talent our artists displayed during their Capstone and Internship process and through their presentations. Here is a look at the incredible work we’ve seen over the past week!
Julie Jewett | Senior Capstone
Julie took the concept of "functional art" to a staggering scale. For her capstone, she hand-crafted a full 80-piece dining set – from scratch! Every plate, bowl, and cup was meticulously designed, fired, and glazed by Julie herself. The project was inspired by her late grandmother’s jewelry and artwork, and her fond memories at the family dinner table every night. Seeing the final collection laid out at The Makerspace downtown was truly a breathtaking testament to her discipline, passion for her craft, and (of course) her incredible artistic abilities!

Ash Blair | Junior Internship
Ash brought a multi-media experience to the EHS Auditorium, presenting an original 4-song musical EP. Combining vocals, ukulele, and even some original visual art, Ash told a poignant story of friendship and escape. The music and her lyrics were both powerful and moving, and the performance captured the crowd on hand! The vulnerability and creativity on display left the audience in awe of their storytelling prowess and her vocal abilities.

Gage Pelaggi | Senior Capstone
Gage has been a vital creative force behind the scenes of the VPA program this year! Stepping into the role of Marketing and Publicity Lead for the fall musical, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown, Gage was responsible for the show's entire visual identity. He mastered professional formatting and layout design to produce the show’s playbill, developed the official production poster, and even designed eye-catching audition materials. During his presentation, he shared his journey of helping bring the world of Peanuts to life through meticulous design!
