Students from several of our HCTC programs spent their sessions at Ellsworth Elementary-Middle School this week, stepping into a few of our third grade classrooms as Reading Buddies – the first in what will be a recurring partnership between the two schools this year!
Throughout the day, HCTC students paired up with third graders to read stories, build connections, and show them some role models – right here in our district!
For the younger students, it was a chance to practice reading with an encouraging older buddy. For the HCTC students, it was an opportunity to step into a mentorship role, build confidence, and experience the joy of supporting younger learners.
The best part? This isn’t a one‑time event. The Reading Buddies will be back in a few weeks, and both schools are already looking forward to continuing the tradition!
