Algebra I provides a formal development of the algebraic skills and concepts necessary for students to succeed in advanced courses. In particular, the instructional program in this course provides for the use of algebraic skills in a wide range of problem-solving situations. The concept of functions is emphasized throughout the course. Topics include: (1) equations and inequalities, (2) functions, (3) extensions of linear concepts, (4) exponents, radicals and polynomials, (5) quadratic functions, and (6) probability and statistics.

Students will need a 3 ring binder, paper, pencils and erasers. Calculators will be provided in the classroom. Students may also elect to bring their own dry erase markers should they prefer to do work on whiteboards. Some will be provided in class, but they seem to go fast!
