Thank you for visiting my webpage! I am a special education teacher who started with Ellsworth High School when the new school department began in 2014, and I love our school! My job is to support students in mathematics while case managing and supporting students who have IEP's and Section 504 Support Plans. I teach several math classes with curriculums that range from consumer math to Algebra II. I also co-teach in Algebra I.
My work experience is very diverse. Working for the family's boat business, Ellis Boats, I enjoyed working with my grandfather while gaining skills in fiberglass boat building and woodworking for these beautiful boats. In 1986, I graduated cum laude from the University of Maine. Initially, I worked in the Bangor area with my own computer business, Softouch Software, helping many businesses build their computer system, and providing customized software for their individual business needs. I joined the Amicus Corporation in 1987, where I worked with adults with disabilities for 20 years. Specializing in employment services, I helped adults gain skills and find employment such that they moved from being service consumers to adults who worked and paid taxes, just like everyone else. I became Program Director for two of the Amicus programs and loved helping young adults achieve their life goals, whether it was learning about a topic of interest, or actually trying a skill in the real world, like fishing or horseback riding.
I started teaching in 2005 at my own high school, Mount Desert Island High School, where I worked to become certified as a special education teacher. My hobbies are playing music with my band, Midnight Rose, Cowboy Action Shooting, Skydiving, and touring the country on my Harley. I have been fortunate to have ridden across country twice, and want to do this again!
