¡Hola! Welcome to my page! I am thrilled to be in my 9th year as a Spanish Teacher for Ellsworth High School students! I graduated from Colby College in 2001 with my BA in Spanish and a minor in Theatre and Dance. I started teaching Spanish way up north in East Millinocket that fall, and I never looked back! I taught at Schenck High School for two short years before relocating to MDI High School, where teaching went from simply being a job to being a career. However, it wasn't until becoming part of the EHS faculty that I felt I was where I wanted to stay. I love our students, parents and community!
In our classroom learning will be a combination of hard work and fun! Collaboration is key, and one cannot learn alone in my classes. Students will be in and out of flexible groupings depending on what they need. I consider myself primarily a facilitator. Students will get constant feedback informally on a daily basis via white boards, conversations and other quick formative checks. The formal assessments will be linked to standards and are proficiency-based.
Professionally, I enjoy helping teachers learn from each other. I am a Peer Instructional Coach and a Mentor. I visit other classrooms and learn from other professionals right in our very own district. My goal is to help others with their classroom instruction, and in the process I learn more tools to help my students as well!
To my students: What will you do when you're in our classroom? You will talk! You will laugh (most of the time!) You will collaborate with each other and with me! You will be silly and serious! You will have so...much...fun! Most importantly you will learn Spanish! I enjoy watching you grow from Spanish I all the way through Spanish IV!
